Three Georgia men, including two from metro Atlanta, recently found themselves trying to flee police in South Florida after attempting to break into the home of a “Real Housewives of Miami” star, records show.
Larsa Pippen, who has been part of the Bravo reality television show’s cast on and off since its debut in 2011, was not home when the incident happened Sunday afternoon, but a 911 call was made. According to a police report, a woman only identified as “victim” by officials observed two men in the backyard of her property in Pinecrest.
Pippen, 51, is also known for her guest appearances on shows such as “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” “Selling Sunset” and “Tamron Hall.” She was previously married to former NBA player Scottie Pippen and has four children.
After the 911 call came in, officers with the Pinecrest Police Department were dispatched to Pippen’s home. An officer who responded said a Hyundai Tucson with a temporary tag sped past him, and officers were advised over police radio to be on the lookout. Shortly after, the vehicle was seen nearby and an officer began to follow it, law enforcement said.
The SUV eventually collided with another vehicle and then a fence before three men “bailed” out, the report states. At that point, police learned the Hyundai’s temporary tag was from Georgia.
Two suspects were quickly apprehended. They were identified as Treison Booker, 23, of Powder Springs, and Cortez Johnson, 23, of Atlanta.
The third, identified as 18-year-old Elijah Russell of Albany, was arrested sometime later in a canal after a foot pursuit, officials said.
Pinecrest is about 700 miles from Atlanta and nearly 600 miles from Albany.
A detective who met at the Pinecrest residence with the person described in the report as the victim noted there were “large impact marks” to several glass doors, according to the report. Authorities said video footage of the incident, captured from the home’s security camera, was turned over and showed two men walking around the backyard before they began to smash the glass door with an object. Officials estimate it caused more than $1,000 in damage.
Pinecrest police Chief Jason Cohen told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution he was not sure why the men came to South Florida, how long they had been in the area and if they knew who the home belonged to.
Cohen told the Miami Herald the department’s “theory is they came because they knew it was her, but we don’t know that to be a fact.”
The three Georgia men were charged with attempted burglary of an unoccupied dwelling. Booker faces an additional criminal mischief charge, and Russell also faces an additional resisting an officer without violence charge.
