The wait is over.
All the online rumors and speculation about what the Falcons’ redesigned uniforms would look like can end.
The Falcons released their reimagined uniform look Thursday morning, with a somewhat bold update ahead of the 2026 season.
The primary home jerseys will be red with white numbers and white pants, with “FALCONS” printed in white in a smaller font, above the jersey number, than in previous iterations. The nameplate on the back also is white.
The road uniform includes white tops with red numbers and “ATLANTA” in red in a smaller font on the front, above the jersey number. There are two options for pants: white or black.
The Falcons will wear black helmets with both new uniform options. Many fans and observers on social media wanted the old-school red helmets, but that look didn’t make this version of the primary uniforms.
The big change is the choice of red as the primary home jersey color.
“I think the red is what makes this team who it is. They have accomplished a lot in those red uniforms,” All-Pro running back Bijan Robinson said in the team statement. “I feel like us bringing it back is a statement to the city, a statement to the team.”
The red uniforms are a striking change to the overall look, and the connection to the city and the franchise’s history was part of the goal.
“Red has always meant something different in Atlanta. It’s when our best football has been played, where this city has shown its heart, and when I experienced the greatest moments of my career,” Falcons president of football Matt Ryan said in a team statement. “When you put on red, you feel the history, the pride, and the energy that comes with being a Falcon.
“Bringing it back honors what’s been built here and fueling what’s coming next, which I’m very excited for our fans to see.”
NFL teams are allowed to change their uniforms every five years. This update was a yearslong process, with collaboration from the Falcons, NFL, Nike and other stakeholders.
The goal was to create a cleaner look with a nod to some of the classic design elements through the team’s 60-year history in Atlanta.
The most recent uniform redesign was in 2020, when the team returned to black as the primary home uniform top, with “ATL” on the front, above the number. The primary road jerseys were white, and an alternate jersey had a red-and-black gradient and black pants with each top.
The new uniforms include some nods to the original 1966 Falcons jerseys with accentuated silver striping along the pants.
“Atlanta has always been a city that moves with purpose, and our team is being built the same way,” Falcons president and CEO Greg Beadles said in a team statement. “These uniforms are intentionally timeless. They honor the past, reflect who we are today, and signal a new era powered by a young, exciting team ready to compete.”
The new uniforms are available for purchase from the Falcons, and season-ticketholders can get a 30% discount.
The Falcons’ uniform closet includes the Throwback Uniform, which is inspired by the classic 1966 look. That includes a red helmet, black jersey, white pants and tri-color socks.
“Everything feels like it’s meant to be,” cornerback A.J. Terrell said in the statement. “(The uniforms) brought back a lot of childhood memories.”
